U5 (3-4 Year Olds)
YMCA T-Ball – U5 (Ages 3–4)
The U5 T-Ball program is designed to introduce our youngest athletes to the game of baseball/softball in a fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment. At this age, the focus is on building basic motor skills, learning simple game concepts, and creating a positive first experience with sports.
Players are introduced to fundamental skills such as hitting off a tee, running the bases, catching, and throwing, all through fun, activity-based drills. Emphasis is placed on hand-eye coordination, balance, and movement rather than competition or game outcomes.
Games are informal and instructional, often led by coaches on the field to guide players through each step. Every child is given the opportunity to participate, with a focus on encouragement, exploration, and enjoyment. Simple rules are used to help players begin understanding the flow of the game.
The U5 division prioritizes fun, confidence-building, and social development, helping children learn to listen, take turns, and be part of a team—all while developing a love for the game.

U7 (5-6 Year Olds)
YMCA T-Ball/Coach-Pitch – U7 (Ages 5–6)
The U7 program serves as a bridge between T-Ball and Coach-Pitch, helping young athletes transition from basic skill-building to early game play with pitched balls. Players will continue developing fundamental skills such as hitting, throwing, catching, and base running while being introduced to more dynamic game situations.
At this age, athletes begin to experience coach-pitched balls, giving them the opportunity to practice timing and hand-eye coordination in a supportive environment. Practices emphasize skill development, teamwork, and understanding simple rules, while keeping activities fun, engaging, and age-appropriate.
Games are a mix of T-Ball and coach-pitch formats, allowing all players to participate and succeed while gradually adjusting to live pitching. Coaches provide guidance on positioning, base running, and sportsmanship, ensuring every child has a positive experience. The season begins with an emphasis on t-ball and as the weeks progress, coaches pitch details are added to enhance the program and child development.
The U7 division focuses on building confidence, teamwork, and a love of the game, preparing young players for a smoother transition to full Coach-Pitch in future seasons.
